Waxing Moon: Building Momentum

The moon is growing. Light is building. Your intentions are taking root. This is the time to act.
The waxing phase (from new moon to full moon, approximately 14 days) is the energy of expansion, growth, and momentum. If the new moon is planting the seed, the waxing moon is watering it, giving it sunlight, and watching it push through the soil.
THREE WAXING PHASES:
WAXING CRESCENT (days 1-3 after new moon):
The first sliver of light appears. This is the commitment phase. You've set your intentions — now take the first concrete step. Not a giant leap. Just one step. Send the email. Start the project. Make the call. The universe rewards initiative during this phase.
FIRST QUARTER (days 7-8):
Half the moon is lit. This is the action phase — and often the resistance phase. You'll likely hit an obstacle here. That's not a sign to stop; it's a test of commitment. Push through. Adjust your approach if needed, but keep moving. First quarter energy says: 'How badly do you want it?'
WAXING GIBBOUS (days 10-13):
Almost full. This is the refinement phase. You've been building, and now you can see what's working and what isn't. Fine-tune. Adjust. Polish. This is not the time for new initiatives — it's the time to perfect what you've started.
HOW TO WORK WITH WAXING ENERGY:
1. TAKE ACTION. The waxing moon supports forward movement. This is the time to launch, initiate, reach out, and create. If you've been waiting for the 'right time' to start something, the waxing moon IS the right time.
2. BUILD MOMENTUM. Each action you take during this phase compounds. One step leads to the next. Don't wait for motivation — create it through movement.
3. OVERCOME RESISTANCE. You will likely face obstacles during the first quarter. This is normal. The universe tests your commitment before it rewards it. Don't interpret resistance as a 'no' — interpret it as 'prove you're serious.'
4. VISUALIZE GROWTH. Each night, look at the moon and visualize your intentions growing with it. As the moon expands, see your goals expanding. As the light increases, see your clarity increasing.
5. CONSUME WISELY. The waxing moon is about building and taking in. This is a good time for learning, absorbing new information, and gathering resources. Save the releasing for the waning phase.
COMMON MISTAKES DURING THE WAXING PHASE:
• Setting new intentions (wait for the next new moon — this phase is for executing, not deciding)
• Giving up at the first quarter obstacle (push through — it's a test)
• Doing release rituals (save those for the full or waning moon)
• Waiting for everything to be perfect before acting (the waxing moon rewards action, not perfection)
Practice Exercise
Look at the intentions you set at the new moon. What ONE action can you take TODAY to move toward each one? Not a plan — an action. Do at least one of them today.
Reflection Question
What resistance have you encountered since the new moon? Is it a genuine obstacle or a test of your commitment? How can you tell the difference?
